SRC Non-conductive, Magnetic Microwave Absorber Sheet & Fabricated Parts
Product complexity, device frequency and component density are increasing across the range of microwave, satellite, wireless, test equipment, military and commercial EMI applications. EMI designers and engineers must find effective, affordable ways to handle unwanted emissions and impedance mis-match. As components grow smaller and more dense, designers and engineers are faced with dwindling layout options to resolve crosstalk, creeping waves, cavity resonance or RF antenna coupling problems.
That's why leading companies like Agilent, RGS, Gigatronics, Phase Matrix and many others depend upon SRC's proprietary engineered "PolyIron" sheet, die-cut or custom fabricated microwave absorber. For high frequency RF, microwave, radar and antenna applications ranging from 100 MHz to 40 GHz, SRC's PolyIron attenuates near field emissions by as much as 30db and more!
Applications include isolating noisy PC board components, shielding sensitive microwave devices from both magnetic and electric interference, eliminating cavity resonance from enclosures, waveguide loads, reducing antenna side lobes - the list is only limited by your imagination.
PolyIron microwave absorber is non-conductive, so it can be applied directly to enclosures and active or passive devices or utilized as gasket material to directly isolate both active and passive devices or components. PolyIron microwave absorber is available in standard sheet thicknesses from 0.030" to 0.125" so it can be matched to a wide range of applications. Sheet can also be die-cut or water jet cut to fit, cut into strips (it is seldom necessary to cover an entire surface) or it can be injection molded into precise geometries and dimensions for higher volume production. The material cuts easily with a razor knife or tooling (for rapid test or prototyping) and the binder has low out-gassing properties -safe for use onboard satellite or within sensitive, high temperature enclosures.
PolyIron microwave absorber is thin, flexible, tolerates high operating temperatures, and is easily fabricated even into very small, precise parts. Sheet, die-cut and molded parts are able to withstand moisture (and resist mildew) and can be subjected to outdoor exposure and extremely high altitudes without adverse effects.
As device frequencies increase, even small enclosures are likely to allow unwanted standing waves to propogate. PolyIron absorber is a lossy, magnetically loaded material, with superior dielectric, permeability and resistivity characteristics that make it ideal for attenuating both electrical and magnetic emissions, especially within a small or confined enclosure, where space is limited and alternative layouts may not be feasible.
